Projection Tips & Tricks
Here are a few features to look for when finding the right projector for you.
The times are a changing and technology is catching up to what we want to do.... which is everything. Just a few short years ago, it would have seemed impossible to utilize a projector to create custom monograms for our events that look as good as the old methods we used to use. Not only is that day here...but it's better! The possibilities for this technology are endless. I want to start by going over what we were looking for in a prjector to utilize it for not only video presentation at our events, but projectiong monograms as well.
High Lumens - This one is obvious, the brighter the projector, the more uses it has in any light condition.
High Contrast Ratio - Having a projector that has a contrast ratio of 4,000;1 or higher will give us brighter Whites and deeper Blacks to help eliminate the gray box effect that some of the cheap projectors can create.
PC-Less Slide Show Presentation - This feature will allow you to show a monogram using a projector without it being plugged into a computer. Just turn it on and select the file on a simple USB flash drive. True 1080p Resolution - as with anything, the better the resolution the better the image will look on the wall, ceiling, or floor. Now this is a lot less important these days with items like the Micca Media Player and the Stick PC's that can plug directly to your projector so don't let this be a deciding factor for you. There are always very small devices that can do this job on any projector that are very inexpensive.
Digital and Optical Zoom - Having these two features will give you the flexibility you need to set up the projector in nearly any location by adjusting the image size depending on how close or far away the wall is.
Native Resolution - This is the actual pixel count that the projector has. Many will claim they are an HD Projector but looking at the specs and finding what the Native Resolution is will tell you the truth. Look for a projector that has a Native Resolution of 1920x1080. This is true HD and you will need every pixel because we are using these projectors to create images much bigger than their intended use.
4 Corner Keystone - This is a very cool feature that allows you to adjust the image to be a perfect rectangle even if you have to shoot the image at a angle to the side and up. It will allow you to grab each corner of the image and raise or lower it to where it should be to make a perfect image on your surface.
